Hi Peggy :-) There seem to be several variations in this recipe on the internet so I am posting 3 for you to try. I have not tried any of them.
CONCORD SWEDISH MEATBALLS
MEATBALLS:
2 lb. lean ground beef 1 c. bread crumbs 1 egg 1 med. onion, chopped fine 3/4 c. milk 2 tbsp. oil
SAUCE:
12 oz. jar chili sauce 12 oz. jar grape jelly
Mix onion, egg, bread crumbs and milk. Let stand 5 minutes. Mix in ground beef and then roll into 40-50 meatballs. Brown meatballs in skillet with 2 tablespoons oil. Drain meatballs and set aside.
In a 2 quart saucepan melt grape jelly and chili sauce. When sauce is bubbly add meatballs and simmer for 30 minutes. Yield 40-50 bite-size meatballs. SWEDISH MEATBALLS
2 lb. ground beef 1 egg 3 tbsp. onions, chopped 3 tbsp. green onion, chopped 3 slices bread or seasoned bread crumbs Salt and pepper 1 bottle chili sauce 1 c. grape jelly Juice of 1 lemon
Makes 50 to 60 meatballs.
Make small balls using hamburger and the next 4 ingredients. Brown in oven for 15 minutes under a 400 degree broiler. Place in mixture of salt and pepper, chili sauce, grape jelly and lemon juice until thoroughly heated (20 minutes). Serve with plastic toothpicks SWEDISH MEATBALLS
3 lbs. hamburger 1 env. dried onion soup mix 2 c. oatmeal 3 eggs 1 bottle (14 oz.) catsup 1 bottle chili sauce 1 jar (10 oz.) grape jelly
Mix hamburger, soup mix, oatmeal and eggs shape into meatballs 1 to 2 inches each. Place on cookie sheet and brown in a 350 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes. While meatballs are baking, mix catsup, chili sauce, and grape jelly. Simmer over low heat until sauce is smooth. Place meatballs in large casserole dish or crockpot. Pour sauce over meat. Bake 1/2 hour at 350 degree oven or on low 4 to 8 hours in crockpot.
