Here is the recipe we have used for years
2 cans whole water chestnuts 1 lb bacon sliced in half 1/2 cup mayo 1 cup chili sauce 1 cup brown sugar
Wrap 1/2 piece of bacon around water chestnut and bake in oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Remove from oven and drain grease. Then mix brown sugar, chili sauce and mayo together and put in 9 by 13 pan, put a toothpick in each water chestnut and transfer them to 9 by 13 pan containing sauce. Bake an additional 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and serve. ___________________________

My recipe doesn't call for BBQ sauce but the sauce is similar.
2 cans whole water chestnuts 1 pkg. of bacon cut in thirds
Sauce: 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup ketchup 1 tsp lemon juice 1 tsp worcestershire
Wrap chestnuts with bacon and secure with a toothpick. Bake at 350F for 25 min. Drain grease. Cover each with sauce and bake 20 more minutes. Makes about 45. Yummy!!!
