Hello Nancy, You are very sweet to do this every week. At Christmas I made gifts boxes for all of my husband's dentist offices he calls on. Each one had 15 - 20 different baked items in them, quantity was based on size of office. One thing I made was Butter Cookies, and after they cooled I dipped 1/2 of each cookie in chocolate. I had alot of calls for my recipe. 1/2 lb. unsalted butter, 4 heaping Tbls. sugar, 2 Tbls. vanilla, 3 cups plain flour--- Cream butter and sugar together. Sift flour into creamed mixture. Add vanilla. Dough will be stiff. Roll dough into small balls and press into thin patties. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 15 - 20 min. in pre-heated oven at 350. Yield apprx. 6 dozen. Store in tins or can be made ahead, they freeze well! I added the chocolate dipping part. I just melted 1 bar semi-sweet chocolate and 1/2 cake paraffin in double boiler and dipped each cookie, coating only 1/2 of it. They are very rich and good with coffee. Another stand by is LEMON BARS: 2 1/4 cups flour, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1 cup butter, 4 eggs beaten, 1/3 cup lemon juice, 2 cups sugar, 1/2 tsp. baking powder. Sift together 2 cups flour and powdered sugar. Cut in butter, until mixture clings together. Press into 13 x 9 pyrex. Bake at 350 for 25 - 30 min. or until lightly brown. Combine eggs, sugar, and lemon juice. Sift together 1/4 c. flour and baking powder. Stir into egg mixture. Pour over baked crust. Bake 350 for 25 - 30 min. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Cool, cut into bars.
