This recipe came from my Mom, who made it when I was a kid. It fits into the category of "Comfort Foods"!

Swiss Steak

2 or 3 round steaks dredged in flour and lightly pounded
1 med. onion, sliced thinly
1/3 c. water, worcestershire sauce (2-3 tbls.)
1 can tomato sauce
1/4 tsp. ground pepper
vegetable or olive oil (just enought to lightly coat the bottom of the pan)

Cook the sliced onion in the oil until tender. Brown the meat on both sides in the oil. Add the tomato sauce, water, worcestershire sauce and pepper. Cover and simmer for about 1- 2 hours. The sauce from this is great over mashed potatoes or noodles. Enjoy!
