Chocolate Shortbread
1/2 cup butter -- softened 1/2 cup powdered sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 1/4 teaspoon almond extract 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 cups white flour 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
Preheat oven to 325°F.
Sift together the flour and salt.
Cream the butter with the powdered sugar, then beat in the vanilla and almond extracts. Mix in the flour, cocoa powder and salt mixture till smooth. Press into a 9- by 12-inch baking pan. Bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool, then cut into 3x3-inch squares.
makes 12 squares, Recipe can be doubled.
