In case you would like a couple more raisin dookierecipes, I have 2 that have been in my husband's family practically forever. They always disappear quickly! I am not sure, but the second recipe may be similar to one already posted. I would be interested in some traditional Greek desserts, if you wouldn't mind posting them! Thanks!
Frosted Pumpkin Cookies -----------------------
1 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 1 cup pumpkin 2 eggs 2 cups flour 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp salt 1 cup raisins
Beat shortening and sugar until fluffy, add eggs and pumpkin, beat well. Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl and add to pumpkin mixture. Mix until just blended. Stir in raisins. Bake in a 375 degree F oven 10-12 minutes.
Frosting
3 Tblsp butter 4 tsp milk 1/2 cup brown sugar Cook these ingredients until dissolved, then stir in 1 cup confectioner's sugar, 3/4 tsp vanilla. Spread over warm cookies.
Hermits -------
1 cup shortening 2 cups brown sugar 2 eggs 3 cups flour 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 2 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp nutmeg 1 cup raisins 1/2 cup buttermilk 1 cup quartered dates 1 cup nutmeats (optional)
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Add dry ingredients, then sour milk, dates and nuts. Bake in 350 degree F oven about 15 minutes. (The note on this recipe is that they are not very pretty but nice and spicy!)
