Julie I collected this from somewhere, maybe here at TKL, can't recall, but it sounded good enough to put in my collection, I have not tried it yet though. Let me know how it turns out if you try it. Good luck.

Gooey Brownies

The recipe on the back on King Arthur whole wheat flour produces incredibly rich, gooey brownies:

1 cup whole wheat flour
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 teaspooon salt
1 stick butter or margarine, melted
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

Basically mix it all together and bake in a greased square pan at 350 F for 30 minutes. Not exactly health food, but well worth it once in a while.

Keep trying to find that recipe! I have never made anything that would compare unfavorably with boxed mixes and I have only been baking for two years. And baking from scratch you get to see what goes in--real food, especially if you use King Arthur or organic flour--not the bizarre chemicals of the packaged food industry.
