Wendy - I have no idea if you would have the same brand ABMs we do in the U.S.

However, most of the machines here make 1, 1-1/2 or 2# loaves ... some can be used for all 3 or 2 of the sizes. Since a kilo is about 2.2 lbs ??? (I'm wondering if I still remember - its been over 30 years since I lived in Europe and had to do that reckoning when I shopped! Ued to be good at it! However,.... age!) a 2 # machine should work for you.

Rather than suggest a brand (they come out with new models all the time and what was great 2 years ago isn't always as good this year!) I would suggest you look at capacity; also how easy it is to program (take time and look at the instruction manual); how easy to put the bread pan in and take it out (some snap in, others line up with this or that and so on); and just the 'feel' of it. If the pan feels a bit heavier it will probably heat/bake a bit easier.

Also, what type of breads do you and your family like? If you will be doing a lot of whole wheat, whole grains - be sure to get one that has a whole grain setting. You can do it manually- by starting, stopping, etc.... but you would be defeating the purpose to my mind. Many now have a setting for a 'fast' loaf - I've heard pros and cons about this ... mainly that tho it is speedy it does not taste as great as the yeast hasn't had the chance to do what it should.

Size/shape of pan is important to some - rectangular (loaf size) or vertical (most available). Some of the rectangulars have 2 kneading blades which I think is good - as otherwise you might have to help it along as it gets started.

Extras like making jams/jellies etc... are your decision.

I'm sure if you do a search here on TKL you'll find lots of comments ... and help.

Am sure you'll enjoy your purchase.
