made these on monday night. recipe was taken from a local cookbook. something different for a change. great looking holiday gift idea as well.

date tart cookies
make about 33 pieces

125g unsalted butter
1 egg yolk
60g castor sugar
1 t. vanilla essence
120g date, pitted and chopped
(weight after chopped)
sift and combine:
170g flour
1 T. milk powder
20g cornflour(cornstarch)

for decoration:
1 egg yolk
some white sesame seed

cream butter, egg yolk, sugar and vanilla until light.
fold in the sifted ingredients and mix well to form a soft dough.
pinch 20g of dough. flatten slightly and put some dates in the dough. roll into oval shapes.
brush with egg yolk and sprinkle each roll with sesame seeds.
bake at 170C for about 20 - 30 mintes.
