CRUSTY CHEESE RINGS

2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup heavy (whipping) cream
2 tsp white vinegar
1/2 cup grated Swiss, Monterey jack or parmesan cheese
All purpose flour
FOR TOPPING:
1 egg white, slightly beaten
Additional grated cheese, for topping

Combine flour and butter in mixing bowl. Cut butter into flour until mixture is slightly smaller than peas. Mix in cream and vinegar with a fork. Stir in cheese, distributing evenly. Form dough into a ball.
Roll dough out on lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into rings, using a doughnut cutter. Repeat with leftover dough.

Place rings and centers (holes) on ungreased baking sheet, about 1 inch apart. Chill for 30 minutes.

TO BAKE:
Brush tops with egg white. Sprinkle with additional cheese.

Bake in preheated 450 degrees F oven for about 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

Serve hot.
